“Art Dojo”

(December 2024–April 2025), curated by K. Medulla, was Bookstore Gallery’s first artist residency, transforming the conference room into an immersive, interactive space. Working with Nigel Davis, she handpicked artwork, helped produce a paper chandelier, and brought in studio materials to create a lived-in, artist-inspired environment.  She designed print and digital content for Art Dojo. The residency explored self-reflection, love, heartbreak, feminism, pro-Black identity, and spirituality, with private tours giving patrons deeper insight. The project launched Couch Potato, a podcast connecting artists, entrepreneurs, and advocates. The opening featured art prints and hemp teas; the closing included partnerships with Soul Theory and Ape Water to music vibes by DJ Kiya Lacey, signature cocktails, a QR code scavenger hunt by Eanaj Janae, and a panel discussion.

The Artist: Nigel Davis

Nigel Davis is an Atlanta native. Through his use of color, texture, and form, he seeks to create works that are both visually striking and emotionally evocative. Davis is drawn to bold, vibrant colors and the interplay of light and shadow, which allows him to capture the subtle variations in tone and texture.
